The scene is inspired by Rene Magritte’s ‘Ceci n’est pas une pipe’ which ignites a conversation around the subject of the identity of an object and its representation. The aim is for the drawing to illustrate a recognisable image of an artist’s studio which recognises its limits of representation. This drawing is part of the ‘May Painting’ series that came out of a collaboration with Matty Mo (The Most Famous Artist). The ‘May Painting’ project is an international internet-based co-creation laboratory, bringing together over 50 makers, artists, collectors, thinkers, and doers to share insights and experiences, exchange ideas and help shape the vision for a culturally relevant artwork. Investigating the subject of the artist’s studio, the series imagines the dream studio as a space of creation, a place of experimentation and a state of mind.
